Weather
Yogyakarta has a warm tropical climate with rainy and dry
season. A rainy season lasts from October to March and the
heaviest rain occurs in December and January. The temperature
throughout the year averages from 22 to 29 degree Centigrade (78
to 85 F) and the humidity averages of about 75%.
Electricity
The electricity system in Indonesia runs 220V at A 50 Hz
(European Standard). If you bring equipment with 110 V at AC50
Hz (American Standard) you will need to carry with you an
adaptor or step down transformer of some kind.
Money Exchange and Banks Most hotels from three to five
stars provide foreign currency exchange services. There are also
numerous money changers in the Malioboro area. Local Banks can
give a full international service, including money transfer,
Visa, Master Card, Cirrus, Alto networks.

Public Transportation
There are many different modes of public transportation
available such as, Pedi-cabs, horse-cart, ojek (motorcycle used
for public transportation), taxi and bus. Most students use
bicycles, motorcycles & bus for their transportation. Apart from
the main roads, it is comfortable to cycle, go by Pedi cab, or
horse-cart, as Yogyakarta’ s terrain is flat and the roads are
paved.
Travel Documents
Yogyakarta is located in central Java and it is only 45 minutes
flight from Jakarta (several times a day) and one hour flight
from Denpasar, Bali (once a day) with a national carrier
(GARUDA). Local transport from Adisucipto International
Airport in Yogyakarta to the city is only by taxi and it takes
about 30 minutes.
A valid passport and Visa are required when visiting Indonesia.
There are a range of visas that can be applied for at an
Indonesian Embassy: tourist visa, study visa, and cultural visa.
Tourist visas have a validity of one month, and for study and
business visa have the validity of one year (can be extended
annually).
