Neem, commonly known as Azadirachta Indica is grown in arid climatic conditions. It is native to Indian sub- continent. It is an evergreen tree providing benefits to the human beings for more than 4500 years. Various parts of the tree like leaves, fruits, bark, roots, etc provides medicinal uses to mankind as well as animals. It is known as the wonder plant for its uses in medicinal world. It is also used in agriculture by the farmers to get rid off the insects and pests that damage the crop. Neem oil is used to give protection against fungal diseases. Different parts of neem tree are as follows,
Leaves:
The leaves of neem plant are similar to that of curry leaves and are major contents of ayurvedic medicines.
Flowers:
The flowers of neem are creamy white and produce sweet smell. Honey which is prepared from neem flowers is famous all over the world.
Fruits:
The fruits of neem are similar to olive and the seed contains different kernels. These seeds are processed to extract neem oil. Neem oil is an important ingredient in skin care products.
Bark:
This is the major part of the plant. Bark is mainly used in dental care.
Neem twigs can be used as toothbrush and prevents gum diseases.
