Hibiscus

Hibiscus, the familiar plant in Hindu religion is grown in warm climatic conditions. The botanical name of hibiscus is ‘Hibiscus Rosa-Sinesis’ and it belongs to the family of ‘Malvaceae’. There are more than 200 species of hibiscus that are spread all over the world. The leaves and flowers of the plant are used for various medicinal purposes. The flowers are trumpet shaped and contain five or more petals. People offer flowers to god during their worship.


Uses of hibiscus are
  • The juice which is extracted from leaves and flowers is used for hair growth.
  • Used in the preparation of shampoos, hair oils, etc.
  • One of the plant species called Roselle is used in making herbal tea, sauces, drinks, etc.
  • Roselle is best remedy to cure cough, fever, heart diseases, mild swellings etc.
  • Act as good coloring agent and used in the preparation of beverages. Bark of the plant contains fibers which are used in making wigs, grass skirts, etc
