Tulsi-History:

Tulsi, the plant of worship in Hindu religion is grown in the tropical areas of Asia. The botanical name of Tulsi is ocimum tenuiflorum(also called ocimun sanctum) and it belongs to the family of lamiaceae. There are several species of Tulsi that are spread all over the country. In Hindu religion it is known in two forms, the Krishna Tulsi and the Rama Tulsi. Rama Tulsi is used for worship where as the Krishna Tulsi is used in medicinal treatment. It is believed in Hindu religion that Krishna Tulsi was the incarnation of Gopi who loved Lord Krishna and she was cursed by Radha, the wife of Krishna. There was a story that when Krishna was weighed in gold, all the jewellery of Sathyabhama could not weigh him but a single Tulsi leaf has equaled his weight. As a daily routine most of the people worship Tulsi by keeping the plant in front of their houses.
